Dr. Hess is currently on your website at Bond Animal Hospital. Dr. Hess is no longer at Bond and that listing should be deleted. Dr. Hess’ new listing should be added, the brand new, state of the art, Veterinary Center for Birds & Exotics. Dr. Hess treats only birds and exotics and she is a fantastic reptile and amphibian vet.

Dr. Hess is currently incorrectly listed on your site as being at Bond Animal Hospital (and 4 other hospitals). Dr. Hess recently opened a state of the art facility in Bedford Hills, NY that treats only birds and exotics pets. Dr. Hess continues to be a fantastic reptile vet.

The second I walked into the vet building, the receptionist walked up to me and asked, "Are you the one with the snake?" After I replied yes, she said to follow her and she promptly lead me to a room with two other people in it, one setting up two heat packs to put under the snake’s travel cage, and the other hooking up a small heater to point at the cage (the building’s heater broke that day and the office was about 50 degrees). After a few minutes Dr. Heidi Licata walked in, and she was super, super nice. You can tell that she really loves reptiles (anyone who holds a snake at eye-level and says, "Oh, how cute!" is definitely harboring some sort of affection for the animals) She gave my pet a check-up to be sure she was in good health, and congratulated me on my new pet and for taking excellent care of her and for knowing my stuff about snakes before purchasing one. She does not know how to sex snakes at the moment, but is planning on learning soon as she has had many patients asking her to sex their snakes in recent months. I HIGHLY recommend her as a vet to ANY reptile owner.

I know they treat snakes, rats, frogs & birds as well as everything else including horses as they are a country vet. Not only reasonable priced, they have the most heart i have ever seen in a vet. My dog was hit by a car & the first vet from the night before wouldnt touch my dog until i gave them 100 bucks in advance. THEN they intended on leaving her leg for 3-4 days before trying to fix it, then they wouldnt let me take her out of the vet without paying the entire $500+ bill for the one night stay. When i contacted mrs. west for a second opinion she was horrified that they would leave her that long, and explained to me how the muscle shrivels up the longer it is left unattended. I took her that day & she called her husband in from his rare day off, as well as another strong male vet, and they worked on it THAT DAY and saved her leg, for the same price i had paid the other vet with no results! I would also like to mention that AS SOON as we came into the waiting room avet tech came out & gave her a pain shot, because my dogs PAIN was the top concern, then we moved her into the room. I was so grateful. i told them i wanted the whole world to know how great they are - and offered to make a website for them for free, but they said no, they preferred to be advertised by word of mouth!

Dr McCarthy is an extremely experienced veterinarian and specializes in exotics/reptiles.

He is one of very few vets in the Albany area that deal with exotics, and I recommend him and his practice highly.
