Sexing and Characteristics:

Use a probe to determine sex. Females grow larger than males.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Substrates that are usable are aspen shavings, newspaper, and orchid bark. You may use pine shavings but be careful of the strong scent.

Lighting and UVB:

Ball pythons are nocturnal so no lighting is required.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The right daytime temp.should be 80-85 degrees. The basking temp.should be90-95 degrees. The right night time temp.should be 75-80 degrees.

Heating and Equipment:

Use a red bulb if using a heat lamp. You may also use a heat pad stuck under the tank.

Caging Provided:

You could use a ten gallon tank for baby ball pythons. A twenty gallon tank will be good for an adult. For large adults you should use a thirty gallon tank.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Baby ball pythons can start off on hoppers or small mice. Juvenile ball pythons can consume small mice to large mice. Sub adult ball pythons can consume large mice to small rats. Large adult ball pythons can consume medium to large rats.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

No supplements are necessary for ball pythons. Although you may want to dip the rear end of the mouse into calcium for pregnant females.

Maintenance:

Clean any poop that is in the tank and do a spot check every once and a while. Change the water about 2 times a week.
