 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Years Experience:

1 to 2 Years

Species:

Golden Gecko

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Tokay Gecko

Sexing and Characteristics:

Males have pores at the bases of their legs and have little bulges at the base of their tail.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Use a substrate that absorbs moisture well if you want to have planted plants. But otherwise you could just use newspaper or even paper towels. I personally like Eco reptile bedding. Provide a water bowl for humidity and mist several times a day because they usually don’t like to drink from the bowl.

Lighting and UVB:

UVB not requered. 14 hours of sunlight in the summer and gradually lower the time to 10 hours in the winter.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Temperature: 75-86 degrees year round.
Humidity: at least 60%.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a heat lamp with a 50 watt bulb because any mor powerful makes it to hot in my short tank. I also use a heat pad that that you stick to the bottom of the tank. There should be a warm side and a cool side so your critters cand thermoregulate at will.

Caging Provided:

I have a 30 gal. tall for my mating pair (Jed and Goldie) and a 20 gal. long for my other male (Fred). You should provide at least 15 gallons per lizard.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

I feed my lizards crickets and large grasshoppers and offer mashed up banana weekly.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Dust the crickets weekly.

Maintenance:

Clean poop when you see it and change water every day.
