Royal Ball Python - Name: Isengard

Sexing and Characteristics:

Female ball python, little over a month old now (Oct. 13 2003). Very very active, has already escaped and returned twice, head shy (like most balls) very docile.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Newsprint for substrate. Water is kept in a ceramic dog dish.

Lighting and UVB:

Heatlamp that gives off little visible light (for 24hr heatin) and a UVB bulb for daytime heating and light nutrients.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Both are kept stable by the placement of the tank and the removal of true sunlight and shadows when possible.

Heating and Equipment:

One heating pad (and the heat lamp and UVB lamp) that spreads out the warmth. Hideyball - medium sized ceramic sphere with a hole she hides in.

Caging Provided:

55gallon aquarium (a new screen cover is needed) and a 10gal aquarium (that has its own screen and is thus, harder to escape from)

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Pre-killed mice although eventually she will feed from live mice.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None yet

Maintenance:

Bedding changed when soiled, cover of heating pad washed when soiled. Hideyball washed. She is taken from her cage nearly every day (unless fed that day).

Some Words on this Species:

This is my first snake and I’ve only had her for a few weeks so I’m nowhere near an expert on this species, but I do adore snakes and am so far very thrilled.
