Maintenance:

These are very high maintenance pets. First of all, they need companionship. If you are out of the house alot, then consider getting 2 Sphinx’s, or a pet to occupy it while you are gone.

They also need alot of warmth. Without the protection of their fur, they need sweaters in the winter. Cuddle them up close to your body whenever you can. THESE CATS ARE STRICTLY INDOOR CATS! They get sunburned easily, so they MUST stay inside!

Sphynx’s need baths once every 2 weeks. They get dirty easily, so they get infected if they aren’t bathed lots. You can use the kitchen sink as a bathtub, and use some special cat shampoo. There is no need for conditioner.

Sphynxs’ ears need cleaning. Without the protection of there fur, they are easily infected. Use baby wipes and a Q-tips to clean out there ears once a week.

You need to brush a sphynxs’ teeth. Use a cat-friendly toothbrush to get the plaque out of their sensitive teeth.

Lastly, these cats may work for people with asthma and allergies. You must take careful precautions though. If you find yourself sniffling, wipe the cat with a warm cloth and leave it alone for a while. Make sure to have a spare room for the cat to curl up in. (This reduces allergies) Provide food, water, a comfortable bed, and a blanket. Make sure you have covers for your couches, beds, etc., or anything that a cat wants to curl up on. Make sure to wash these covers every week. Purchase some air purifiers. Finally, wash your hands before and after handling the sphynx.

Some Words on this Species:

Very cute, despite the wrinkles. They can be a handful, and aren’t recommended for beginner cat people. WARNING: Lipstick causes horrible and painful rashes on a sphynxs’ skin. If you kiss the sphynx, make sure you don’t have any type of commercial product on your lips.
