Sexing and Characteristics:
Males have larger heads than females and males also have femoral pores on the underside of their back legs and these pores are larger than females..males have 2 lumps right at the beginning of the tail after the vent where they store the hemipenis.
Mostly Active During:
Day
Substrate and Water Needs:
Newspapers..Cage Carpet are fine..NO SAND, NO BARK, NOTHING even remotely edible even if it says edible substrate do not use it because even though it may be edible it can cause serious impactions..standing water bowl is necessary.. there also needs to be a tub for bathing must be different from drinking because igs defecate in warm water
Lighting and UVB:
Lighting is one of the most important things in a little iggys life..my recommendation is 100 watt zoomed basking bulb about 18 inches from body or until the right temp is met(see below) and you also need a uvb bulb MANDATORY i would get zoomed reptisun 10.0 if its about 45 bucks then u got the right one uvb bulbs are expensive so if its cheap its no good. this needs to be withing 12 inches otherwise its useless. there are also cheaper ones but i haven’t had any experience with them... UVB bulbs come in 2.0, 5.0, 7.0, 8.0, and 10.0 UVB emitted
Temperatures and Humidity:
Temps 85-90 for the warm end and for igs under 2 years old nothing below 80 for the cool end basking from 93-98 degrees cage must have shade for thermoregulation igs need to be at 88 degrees just to digest food.. humidity 80-90% can be 70 if given baths daily a horizontal wrinkle on side of body means dehydration
Heating and Equipment:
A ceramic heat emitter(CHE) can be used at night to keep temps up there they do not emit light only heat and screw into a clamp lamp...needed: 2 clamp lamps, 2 bulbs(UVB and heat), CHE(optional), 2 thermometers, 1 humidity meter, climbing materials, water dish and tub, cage carpet or newspaper, food dish
Caging Provided:
I provided for my baby ig about 4 months old i gave him a 4X3X2 enclosure made from birch plywood..CEDAR AND PINE ARE TOXIC DO NOT USE..plexiglass top and plexiglass doors..with all the accessories above
