Sexing and Characteristics:

Mourning Geckos are extremely adaptive to changing environments simply because they do not need to have a mate to lay eggs.They are parthenogenic.That means that a female can reproduce without a male.So they are all female.They can be found in the Hawaiian Islands,Australia,North America,South America,and many other places.

Substrate and Water Needs:

For the substrate,I suggest you use ’’Bed-A-Beast’’. For the water dish,you can buy one at a pet store.You can also make one of your own by getting a small butter tub and put a rock in it.That way your lizard can soak in it and get a drink when it wants.

Lighting and UVB:

A UVB Light is necessary for the gecko to process vitamins and minerals.A Flood Light can also be used to brighten up the aquarium.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature should be 80-92 degrees.They temperature should never drop below 60 degrees.

Heating and Equipment:

Heating rocks should not be used because they can burn your lizards belly.Underground heating pads can be used,but are not necessary.

Caging Provided:

A 10 gallon tank can house 1 gecko and for 2 or 3 geckos,you can use a 20-25 gallon tank.They are very good with other small groups of Mourning Lizards.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Crickets that are smaller than your lizards head can be fed to it.It will also eat waxworm larvae and other small insects.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

N/A

Maintenance:

Depending on how dirty it is,clean the tank every 1 or 2 weeks.

The Mourning Gecko is good for beginner reptile owners.Green Anoles are also good.
