Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

N/A

Sexing and Characteristics:

There is no way to sex them that I know of.
Their scientific name is Archispirostreptus gigas. They grow up to 10 inches long and love moist areas. They also do well in small communities of 2 or 3 millipedes in an enclosure.

Mostly Active During:

None

Substrate and Water Needs:

You can use 4 or 5 inches of peat moss or potting soil for the substrate. No water dish is needed.

Lighting and UVB:

No lighting is needed, but you can put a Flood Light on one side of the tank.Be sure that the millipede has one side of the tank without light shining on it though. Also, have many hide areas for the millipede.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature should be 75-85 degrees. The humidity needs to be 75-80%.

Heating and Equipment:

Your room temperature is almost perfect, but the Flood Light should supply any of the extra needed heat that your house did not.

Caging Provided:

A 5 gallon tank is good for one millipede,a 10 gallon tank is good for two millipedes, and a 20 gallon tank should be good for three millipedes.

Diet:

Herbivorous

Description of Diet:

Young and adult millipedes will eat tomatoes, melons, bananas, lettuce, apples, cucumbers, beets, and other vegetables and fruits.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Millipedes should also have calcium in their diet,so I would suggest buying calcium powder from a pet store and occasionally putting some on their food.

Maintenance:

The tank should be cleaned every 1 or 2 weeks.

Some Words on this Species:

They are the best type of millipedes for beginner millipede owners.
