Sexing and Characteristics:

Males are much more colorful than females,males are usually a light blue or green.They`re belly is black.Females are brown.Also,when fully grown,males are much larger than females.
Emerald Swifts scientific name is Sceloporus Malachiticus.They are in the Tropidurinae family.They grow 4-8 inches long.They usually live to be 3-6 years old.They can be found in Panama,Mexico,and in the Southern United States.

Substrate and Water Needs:

Bed-A-Beast works great.Alfa Pets wood chips are the second best choice.
For the water,you can buy a water dish from a petstore.You could also use a large butter tub.

Lighting and UVB:

A UVB Light is necessary for the lizard to properly process vitamins and minerals.A Flood Light can also be used to add extra light.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature should be 85-90 degrees.You should have a basking area that is 90-95 degrees.Have a cool end that is around 80-85 degrees.The Humidity should be 50-60%.Also,mist the tank once every day.

Heating and Equipment:

Underground heating pads are not necessary,as the lizard recieves all of its necessary heat from above.Heating rocks should not be used,as it can burn the lizards belly.Always have things that the lizard can go inside or burrow under to escape the heat.

Caging Provided:

A 10-15 gallon tank is good for one lizard.A 20-30 gallon tank is good for 2 lizards.Never house

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

Though Swifts mainly feed on insects,they will eat some fruits and vegetables.On occation they will eat small pieces of cabbage and lettuce or watermelon.They`re main diet should consist of cricket,waxworms,superworms,beetles,and other small insects.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Once a week,before you feed the crickets to the lizard,you can dust them with vitamin/calcium powder.

Maintenance:

Depending on how dirty it is,clean the tank every 1-2 weeks.

Some Words on this Species:

Emerald Swifts are mildly more difficult to care for than most other lizards,but not by too much.They are pretty cool pets to have.
