Sexing and Characteristics:

I do not currently know how to sex a Red Head Agama.As soon as I find out,I will be sure to update this care sheet.

The Red Head Agama originates from Africa and grows 12-15 inches long.Its scientific name is Agama agama.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

For the substrate you can use Bed-A-Beast or Orchid Bark sand.Be sure to have rocks for the Agama to hide under and branches for it to climb on.
For the water,provide a small water dish.You can purchase one from a petstore.

Lighting and UVB:

A Full spectrum UVB Light should be used.It is necessary for the Agama to properly process minerals and vitamins.A Flood Light can also brighten up the tank.Keep the UVB Light on 12-14 hours every day.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature should be 80-86 degrees and thre should be a basking area where the temperature is 90 degrees.The humidity should be reletively low.

Heating and Equipment:

An underground heating pad can be used at night.Do not use heat rocks because it can burn your lizards belly.

Caging Provided:

These lizards require a pretty large encloser.A 30-40 gallon tank will work good.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

The Agama will eat crickets,mealworms,superworms,grasshoppers,and locust.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

You can dust the insects with a vitamin/calcium powder such as Herpevite.

Maintenance:

Clean the tank every 2-3 weeks.

The Red Head Agama is fun,but expensive pet to have.It cost alot to buy its encloser and other things.
