Sexing and Characteristics:

Males r slightly smaller than females. also their plastrons (bottom of shells) are more concave. the males also have longer claws which they use for mating rituals.

Substrate and Water Needs:

My turtle have a little over a foot of water and love it. i have a turtle dock and 3 huge rocks (they make a cave0

Lighting and UVB:

I use a normal light, and my turtles are almost always under it. I sometimes use a heat lamp i use for my gecko and basilisk though

Temperatures and Humidity:

The water temperature should be at least 75 but not above 85. they live in water, so of course no humidity.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a normal light. i have rocks and some gravel spread on the floor. a couple stick to add a wild effect.

Caging Provided:

I started off w/ a 20 gallon for 2, but moved to a 55 gallon for them and 2 other turtles.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

Mine eat mostly frozen shrimo and pellets, they r both adults. they sometimes eat some apple and lettuce, but no iceberg lettuce! they also eat panfish worms

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

I grind a piece of cuttlebone onto their food and a little in the water. also just little pieces.

Maintenance:

GET A FILTER. u definetly need a filter, and a good one. don’t get a fish one as those clog easily. i clean my tank at least 3 times a week, but that’s just me. make sure to clean the gravel when u clean the tank, and scrub the rocks.

Some Words on this Species:

They are a lot of fun to have. my 2 are completely different from each other. one is nice and never bites, but is a little scared sometimes, whereas the other it fiesty and bites. they like caves to hide in and need something to get out of the water on. they sleep under water mostly and like to swim a lot.
