Sexing and Characteristics:

Its hard to sex any monitor. u my be able to tell by looking by the vent at the base of the tail males will have large bulges at the base of the tail females will have small bulges.

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

Dirt all the way. plain soil from your yard is the best idea for any monitor. u might could try some leaf litter in the cage on top of the soil and see if your monitor likes it or not.

Lighting and UVB:

50watt to 75watt hologan flood lights work great.

Temperatures and Humidity:

A cool side of 75 works OK and a warm side of 80 to 85 with a basking spot of at least 130 works well.

Heating and Equipment:

For heating i would use heat lamps for the basking and heating for adults but for smaller monitors UTH’s are a great idea.

Caging Provided:

Start with at least a 55gallon tank with a lid that holds humidity but u will soon need to build a bigger cage. for an adult that’s 5’+ should have a cage at least 10’Lx5’Wx6’T. i say 6’Tall that way it allows for 2’ or 3’ of dirt and from 3’ to 4’ of moving space.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

For babies crix, and other bugs like superworms, small roach’s dusted with miner-all is good. for small to adults rodents are the way to go.

Dust only the bugs with miner-all for your monitor
