Years Experience:

1 to 2 Years

Species:

Whites Tree Frog

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Green Or White Lipped

Sexing and Characteristics:

Males will Croak loud on there own like WOK WOk and will develop brownish pads on fingers or toes. females will make a squawking sound when annoyed when held or sat on. it is really easy when breeding in season they will start to breed after 3 years or in some cases a little earlier. during season which is in late spring flood the tank with an inch and a half of water or so it doesn’t go over the frogs head it all depends on size. as soon as eggs are visable remove the parents to keep the eggs safe. when the eggs hatch feed the tadpoles fine fish food then when they become babies on land feed them pin head crickets

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

I like to use astro turf not the fancy reptile stuff because it costs ALOT more when astro turf is the same thing but if you want to keep a lot of heat in use safe soil for amphibians and reptiles you can gets this a your local pet shop or a gardening shop just make sure there is no manure in it. for water if you use tap i suggest you don’t first of all because most water pipes are made out of copper which is not good for any frog. I use Britta filtered water and just let it sit to get a little warn since its cold from being in the fridge. but if you don’t have Britta then use bottled water just regular stuff not hinted with flavor of lemon or something and let it sit to be come room temperature. icy cold water isn’t so comfortable for your little guy.

Lighting and UVB:

I use a heating lamp which is the best way to keep a whites happy and warm. don’t use a heating pad because whites are almost never on the ground.

Temperatures and Humidity:

mist one half of the tank twice a day or as needed. to make sure the temperature stays were it is suppose to be at buy a thermometer that sticks to the tank make sure you put it in the dead center if you only buy one

Heating and Equipment:

Use a 100 Wat infrared bulb
with a medium porcelain clamp lamp. keep this on at all times

Caging Provided:

Glass tank best...for one adult use a 10 gal or 20 gal for 2 use a 20gal or 30 gal remember the bigger the better. have lots of hiding and climbing places i use a aquarium tunnel that my whites loves to go in if you are going to use an aquarium ornament make sure it is not sharp because it will hurt your frog’s sensitive skin. you can also use lots of fake plants vines and pet store bought logs. it is not the best idea if you get things from the out side but if you must boil it to get rid of all the bugs

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Whites eat most bugs but do not get them from the outside. most reptile and exotic pet stores sell appropriate bug for your tree frog they are also inexpensive. They really enjoy crickets house, flys, meal worms, wax worms, and pikeys which are new born mice. i know yuck right but they are really good food for your whites you can feed those once a week to whites when they have reached adult hood. feed every other day. to house crickets without spending money clean out an ice cream bucket an put in some toilet paper rolls for hiding also add the food the crikets like it just the same.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Cricket duster is your best bet use it like shake and bake place the cricket or bug in a plastic bag pour a pinch of supplement in and shake shake shake! you can feed crickets oranges, flake fish food, dog food, bread, bananas, strawberries, give a big variety. don’t use potatoes they are completely useless

Maintenance:

Wipe the tank walls with paper towels bottled water and no soap every other day or as needed. change water twice a day. and mist the tank with de-chlorinated water. always wash your hands before and after you handle them. use ivory soap it isn’t dangerous to your frog.

Some Words on this Species:

Very kind and loving tree frogs. best for beginners and also live pretty long 20 years is the record !!!
