Species:
Green Treefrog
Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:
Gray Treefrogs
Sexing and Characteristics:
Males will have dark throats in the breeding season. The males may also chirp.
Mostly Active During:
Night
Substrate and Water Needs:
The best substrate to use is gravel as a drainage at the bottom, reptibark in the middle, and moss for the top. They need a water bowl big enough for climbing into. Do not make it deeper than an inch since they may drown in deep water.
Lighting and UVB:
They do not need any specific lighting unless you live in a very cold place. If you use lighting you will have to mist it more often.
Temperatures and Humidity:
They could do fine at room temperature (70-77 degrees Fahrenheit.) unless you live somewhere cold. Mist it 2-3 times a day with declorinated water.
Heating and Equipment:
If you live somewhere cold you could place a heat pad under one end of the tank to warm it up. You will need a spray bottle, declorinated water, water dish and proper care
Caging Provided:
I have kept 2-3 adults in a 10 gallon with no problems
Diet:
Carnivorous
Description of Diet:
They will eat small crickets, moths, worms, flies, mealworms(feed sparingly) and waxworms. I usually feed mine flies, moths, and crickets.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
Their food should be dusted with a vitamin/calcium substance twice a week
Maintenance:
Clean the poo out when you see it. The cage should be changed every 1-2 months. Change their water every other day unless it is already soiled.
Some Words on this Species:
They make a great frog pet for beginners
