Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Oriental Fire Bellied Toads

Sexing and Characteristics:

Everywhere I look, I canNOT find anything that covers how to determine the sex of my Toads. Anyway, I know that I have a male, and female because of how they breed. and I only have 2 ;) lol okay. My male Toad, Samson have little bumps on the underside of him near his rear. Olivia does not have these. So, I can only be lead to believe that Males have these, and females don’t. Another thing I have noticed at looking at hundreds of these toads, is that the females tend to have a slimmer looking figure than the males. Males look like they are more filled out in the midsection

Mostly Active During:

N/A

Substrate and Water Needs:

I have my tank set up as 2/3 water and 1/3 land. They seem to be very happy.

Lighting and UVB:

As of now, I only have a desk lamp for lighting they seem to be happy with that.

Temperatures and Humidity:

75-78 degrees for the water and 75 degrees for land getting to 70 at night

Heating and Equipment:

Aquarium water heater

Caging Provided:

10 gallon aquarium

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Crickets, Mealworms, Waxworms, even earthworms!! As long as they are not too big for them to swallow. And earthworms are PACKED with nutrients!!

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Reptocal powder to powder the crickets once a week.

Maintenance:

Keep the cage clean!! I use a rock vaccum, and algae remover. When changing the water, please do NOT change all of their water at once it is not good for them. Only change about half at a time.

Some Words on this Species:

They like to hide. Make sure you have somewhere for them to hide, and just get away for awhile. Especially if there is more than one in the tank together. They WILL escape if given the chance. Trust me! Snap tight cover is MANDATORY!! They are very enjoyable to watch so if you like toads, these are a WONDERFUL species!! Thanks for viewing my care sheet!!
