Sexing and Characteristics:

Males have a dark "beard" under their chin and apparently croak loud.

Females do not possess a beard and produce chirps.

Substrate and Water Needs:

Mimicking their natural habitat is best.

Use 3-4 inches of moist (not wet) coconut fiber such as Bed-A-Beast or Eco-Earth as well as sphagnum moss. (I like Fluker’s best) Many people use paper towels, but its not attractive nor is it natural for the frog.

Lighting and UVB:

As long as you keep the enclosure in a room where there is light in the day and dark in the night, it is not necessary for light equipment. But, you may provide lighting if you wish.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Between 72-80 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal, you can make the night temperature slightly lower like 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a thermometer.

Humidity is best kept at 75%-82% use a hydrometer.

Heating and Equipment:

An Under Tank Heater is best. Make sure its the appropriate size for the enclosure provided.

Caging Provided:

A 10 gallon tank is minimum for a full grown frog, 5 gallons is good for a baby, but its best to start with a 10 gallon from the start.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Pac-Man frogs are able to eat a variety of foods such as pinkie mice (although not recommended), mealworms, silkworms, guppies and grasshoppers. These foods should be fed in moderation. Appropriate amount of crickets are fed daily:


Babies- 1 or 2 small crickets daily, and a small worm in moderation.

Sub Adults- 3 crickets daily 2 mealworms in moderation

Adults- 4 crickets daily and a mealworm daily.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Use calcium dust every 2-3 days on crickets.

Maintenance:

Uber easy to care for.

Some Words on this Species:

They are not very active, but are fun to watch when eating, they will lunge at their prey when it comes towards them and will eat anything that moves.
