Sexing and Characteristics:

Males have two bulges at the base of their tail and a V shaped vent. Males also seem to be more golden in appearance while females are more dark and more of a green color.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Bed-a-Beast and Eco-Earth seem to work the best especially for humidity. For water just mist the tank 3-5 times daily and they will just lick the drops of water up off the sides of the tank. A shallow bowl of water could be offered as it will help humidity.

Lighting and UVB:

40-60 watt bulb, basking light and you can offer in-fared light at night if it gets to cold. If need you can higher the watts.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Temps range from 70-75 on cool side and 75-85 on warm side. Provide basking spot where temps reach in low 90s. The temps should also be lowered by 5 degrees at night.

Humidity should stay around 80%.

Heating and Equipment:

A 40-60 watt bulb can be provided to warm up the tank and a basking bulb that can reach temps in the 80s-90s.

Caging Provided:

20 min per Golden Gecko. Never house two males as it will result in them competing which will be stressful and one will make it very hard for the other. Also an additional 20 gallons should be added per goldie.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

They mostly eat crickets, meal worms, wax worms and silkworms. Wax worms should be a treat because they are very fattening and silkworms are the most healthy. They can be fed fruits and baby food but it is not recommended because they can get hooked and then the will not have a healthy staple diet, but it can be offered in a shallow dish as a treat.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Dust the food items such as crickets with calcium powder which will supply lots of nutrition and help your Golden Gecko digest its food.

Maintenance:

A spot check should be done daily and the entire tank should be cleaned once every 2-4 weeks. You may need to bleach the tank once a week it he has parasites to make sure you clean them out of its tank.

Some Words on this Species:

Golden Geckos can be very hard to keep and very aggressive. They also can be stressed easily so handling is not recommended, but if you have a healthy Golden Gecko you will have quite a happy gecko.
They are NOT recommended for beginners.
