Mostly Active During:

Substrate and Water Needs:

Potting soil, orchid bark, cocounut fiber, fir bark, moulch, live or fake plants, long sticks for climbing make sure when buying potting soil that you get non fertlizer. The cage should be mist daily 2 to 3 times their should also be 1 or 2 water bowls to help moister and in case of emergencey. When misting cage use warm water .

Lighting and UVB:

UVB ligh is required in choosing lights for your tokay
night time basaking bulb should be 20 to 50 watts
tokays have 12 hrs or less daylight.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Day time temp should be kept at 76 to 94 degrees but best temp for good feeding is 85 degrees the baskingspot should be kept at a higher temp then the rest of the cage. The humidity should be kept between 70 and 90% the cage should never drop below 50% this can be maintained by a medium dish of water in the cage. I also use plastic with holes over the top of the cage.

Heating and Equipment:

Most of the heating is covered by the lighting. some people use heating rocks, but I would recamond not to because it may burn your tokay what you can do is barry the heating rock about half a inch under the soil this will also help in keeping the humidity at the proper area you should also us a metal reflectent dome over the bulb in the cage their should be a humidity gage and a digital thermonieter.

Caging Provided:

I have a male and female tokay that are in a 100 gal tank.
I have set my cage up with many different areas for hiding
they have many vines sticks ropes plants( all fake because they are easer to maintain) in the middle of my tank I have set up a wonderful water fall to help with humidity and for drinking.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

I feed my tokays crickets, mealworms, superworms, pinky mice, cockroches, as well as other insects adult tokays feed about every second day while babies feed every day you can powder the food with vit D 3 and calcium
tokays like to eat mostly at night.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Herp vit powder not containg vit A
Calcium powder with vit D3

Maintenance:

When washing the cage use 1 part bleach and 9 parts water
the cage should be cleaned every 4 to 6 weeks and spot cleaned every day.
use paper towl to dry out caeg when done cleaning be sure to rinse with water
make sure that you do a good job when drying out cage because it can be very harmful to your tokay
cleaning cage often helps prvent your tokay for getting pestsides

Some Words on this Species:

The tokay is a wonderful pet but can be pricey and they are know to be moody and got a real strong bite. I would not recomend this gecko for beginers the life span can be 7to 15yrs when proper treatment. Males can grow 12 to 14 inch and a female grows 8 to 10 inchs. Have fun with your tokays.
