Sexing and Characteristics:

Male dogs will have a penis and testes although the testes will not be there if the dog has been castrated. Males are normally larger and more dominant.

Substrate and Water Needs:

A normal home environment is ok for a normal dog although some owners tend to keep there dogs outside in an outdoor kennel. A dog should always have somewhere soft to lie on. Always provide water in a dish.

Lighting and UVB:

Just don’t keep your dog in the dark 24/7.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Same as humans.

Heating and Equipment:

You will need special heating in an outdoor kennel but nothing special in a home.

Caging Provided:

My house, although our dogs are kept in a crate at night to stop them messing on the kitchen floor.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Dogs are meant to be carnivorous and they eat mainly meat although many dogs like fruit and veg aswell and often eat grass. Feed your dog on a complete dog food for dinner and we give our dogs weetabix and milk for breakfast more as a token than an actual feed.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Only use vitamins if your vet prescribes you some as they don’t normally need them.

Maintenance:

Walk at least 3 times a day, 2 small walks and 1 longer one. Groom at least once a week depending on coat type and length. plenty of TLC and interaction with humans and other dogs is vital.
