Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:
Dog, dog, and more dogs! Purebred and mixed!
Sexing and Characteristics:
If you own a horse, you know what to do. Just look at their rear end on the underside. If their is a somewhat long penis, you’ve got yourself a boy. If not, congratulations, it’s a girl!
Mostly Active During:
Day
Substrate and Water Needs:
Grass, carpet, wood(decks), and/or plastic(doghouses). One or all of those things; well, they’re all things your pet needs to experience. Make sure your pet has CONSTANT access to shelter/grass for their business. And always leave a large bowl of fresh, cool water, whether it’s a hot, cold, or mild day.
Lighting and UVB:
N/A
Temperatures and Humidity:

Heating and Equipment:

Caging Provided:
A sturdy doghouse. Not too small(DEFINITELY), and also NOT TOO BIG!!!!!! dogs like to make a cozy nest in their doghouse with straw(not blankets, if outside). There should be room for the dog to walk in and out, turn around, and stretch out COMFORTABLY. Preferably with a little extra space.
Diet:
Carnivorous
Description of Diet:
Meat: Pork and chicken. Bacon-flavored treats are a favorite. Talk to your vet if your dog is allergic to meats!! You can feed small dogs(probably under 10lbs) canned food, and any dog bigger semi-moist or dry, bagged wholesome meaty dog food. You definitely want to give any dog over 40lbs dry dog food, as they will usually scarf it down. 3 small meals a day for puppies, and 1-2 for adult dogs.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
Heart worm preventative pills are recommended. If you get HART-GARD PLUS+, then the pills will be designed to taste like treats, and your pup will willingly gobble them up before your eyes(1 ’treat’ per month, every month for 12 months). You can also give your adult dog special life-enriching calcium, pills, but these are not a necessity and you should talk them over with your vet.
Maintenance:
Easy. Well, if you like cleaning up messes, food and water bills, grooming, socialization, many toys, exerciser’s, lots of destruction, and endless situations involving trips to the vet, than a dog is most likely PERFECT for you. Start training your puppy(you’ll need a training collar, treats or praise, and a clicker) from the time it is 8 weeks old. Have fun!!
Some Words on this Species:
Dogs are intelligent creatures. They vary in size, color, and breed. There is everything from the dainty Maltese to the massive Irish Wolfhound, and everything in between!! all dogs, especially Border Collies and Labs, need to be kept active with toys, boredom busters, social interaction, and ’job’. Maybe agility, trial, field, or obedience classes/competitions would suit you and your pooch. Whatever you choose, just do it!!(Every day!!)
Congrats, and have fun
