Sexing and Characteristics: | Usually when a snake is an adult it can be sexed usually by a vet or someone who has alot of experience with snakes and sexing them. |

Substrate and Water Needs: | I use and aspen substrate because california king snakes LOVE to dig and this is easy for them to dig in. Water should be changed every day and make sure it does not have chlorine in it and if you do have chlorinated tap water just use bottled water. |
Lighting and UVB: | I usually use a 60watt light until its the winter than I use a 75watt light to a 100watt light depending on how cold it is. |
Temperatures and Humidity: | The temp should be 84-90 degrees on the hot side and 76-81 on the cold side. The humidity doesn’t really matter until the snake starts to shed than you must raise the humidity until it is done shedding. |
Heating and Equipment: | You can use a heat pad during the winter that goes under the tank to raise the temp. |
Caging Provided: | A full grown California king snake you have at least a 40 breeder tank. |
Diet: | Carnivorous |
Description of Diet: | Depending on the size of your snake decides what size mouse you should feed it. The rule is that the mouse should be not be bigger than the thickest part on your snake. The size mouses go in size from pinkie, to fuzzie, than to hopper, and than last a full grown mouse. Feed your snake one whatever size mouse you use every 5 days. During the winter the snake will stop eating as much and may only eat one mouse every 2 months until the temperature raises. |
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage: | You don’t really need to use extra vitamins or calcium because mice have enough nutrients in them already. |
Maintenance: | Try to clean the tank once a month if not once every 2 weeks. And change the water every day. |
