 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Timvp

Years Experience:

Under 1 Year

Species:

Ball Python

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

N/A

Sexing and Characteristics:

The only way to be 100% sure is to get it probed or popped by a vet or an experienced breeder.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

I use newspaper i find it much easier but there are many different type of substrate available, i would say the two best would be newspaper and aspen. NEVER use ceder or pine!

Lighting and UVB:

None required

Temperatures and Humidity:

You need a warm end and a cold end with identical hides on each end. warm end should be 92F-94F and the cold end should be 82F-84F (try not let the cold end drop below 80).

Humidity should be between 55%-60% and to ensure a good shed bump that up to 70%-75% once your bp is in shed.

Heating and Equipment:

I think a good UTH is your best choice, i use flexwatt. heat lamps tend to suck out the humidity out of your enclosure. Hook your UTH up to a good reliable thermostat, i use a ranco thermostat, but a johnsons, helix and herpstats are also a good choice.

Caging Provided:

I provide a plastic tub that is around 6" high for my bp, they are much easier to heat and keep in humidity much better. if i were you i wouldn’t waste my time and money on a glass enclosure.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Mice and rats, i wouldn’t feed anything else.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None

Maintenance:

Spot clean daily, a good wash every week and a full sanitizing every few months.

Some Words on this Species:

A BP is truly a wonderful pet and would recommend it to anyone, i love them to bits and i just hope that this short caresheet will give you the main information you need to have a happy and healthy BP.
