Sexing and Characteristics:

In normal color variations males will have blue ceres.
In pied colors and other colors like pied, males will have purple ceres.
In normal and other color variations females will have brown or pale ceres.
In most situations males will be more talkative, and more docile than females. But there are always exceptions

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

Paper towels or newspaper can be used as substrate. Be careful if you buy other substrates, because some can become old and mold very easy, which is not good for your bird at all.

Fresh water should be provided at all times.

Lighting and UVB:

Normal lighting

Temperatures and Humidity:

The cage should not be in the way of any cracks, or window openings. Fine at room temperatures

Heating and Equipment:

Equipment: Toys should always be available to your budgie, and you should have extras, so you can switch them with the current ones in you cage. This way your budgie wont get bored.

Caging Provided:

Be careful when buying a cage, a lot of the time the cages that your local pet shop sell can be too small. But they also sell big ones which are fine. Just remember BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER.

Diet:

N/A

Description of Diet:

The best diet for your budgie are pellets. But budgies can live off of a good seed mixture specially made for budgies. 99% of the time your budgie will not accept pellets right away. You can mix your seeds with the pellets, and overtime have a 75%-25% ratio pellets-seed. And after awhile your budgie will have a 100% pellet diet, just be patient.

Fruits and greens should also be offered regularly.

Millet spray is a nice treat.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Budgies can have a little egg food supplement, every once in awhile.

Maintenance:

Cage should be cleaned once every week, every two weeks, or as necessary.

Food and clean water should always be available

Some Words on this Species:

Budgies are very social animals, and if you cant take your budgie out an hour or so everyday something will have to be arrange. They can get very lonely if no one is home all day long. If this is the situation, another budgie for your current budgie might be a good idea. But this means more toys, food, clean up, etc. but the most important is YOU WOULD NEED A BIGGER CAGE.

Budgies should have some form of exercise every day.
