Males have dewlaps and longer heads. Females are less colorful. Males will fight with other males.

Substrate and Water Needs:
Substrates = Paper Towels,Play Sand, Calci Sand,and Tiles. Provides 5-6 inches if you are using Play Sand because collared lizards like to dig. Most water is obtained from the insects that you feed but provide a small water bowl.
Lighting and UVB:
For lighting use a UV and a 75-125 Watt basking light (depending on the size of the cage).
Temperatures and Humidity:
Temperatures should range from 70-80 on the cold side, 90 on the hot side, and 100-115ish on the basking surface. There should be ALMOST no humidity.

Caging Provided:
For a trio of adults you need at least a forty gallon breeder, for a single adult they use a 29 gallon tank and for baby’s/juveniles use 20 to 29 depending on the size of your lizard. You will need a heat lamp and a heat pad(Every one complains about heat rocks but i have one in my collared lizards cage and they enjoy it a lot. It hasn’t burnt any of them so by the way) so feel free to use heat rocks if you’d like.

Description of Diet:
In the wild the collared lizard preys on a variety of insects and smaller reptiles (including younger collared lizards). In captivity They will eat almost any kind of bug, they will also eat some greens.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
Dust every meal with calcium.
Maintenance:
Clean the cage weekly and supply the food ( dah ).
