Years Experience:

10 to 15 Years

Species:

Legless lizard

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

aka Glass Lizard

Sexing and Characteristics:

There is no sure fire way to tell easily, sorry

Mostly Active During:

Both

Substrate and Water Needs:

Use either a 50/ 50 dirt sand mix or natural store bought bark. Beware of fungus and weed growth in the soil mix and don’t use a peat moss soil mix! To much moisture on that will cause a fungus growth. I’ve had that. For water, use a shallow dish they can soak half there body in, mainly for shedding. Change everyday. No less.

Lighting and UVB:

They need more natural light than anything, but unnatural light is OK. Its bet to have a small light that only brighten 1/2 of the cage so they have shady spots.

Temperatures and Humidity:

You have to keep a higher temp, no room temp stuff. Have it between 70-75 degrees, a little higher is OK. Mist once a day lightly, they do like it dryer.

Heating and Equipment:

They need some heat source. No heat rocks!!! They can burn them. Not much otherwise.

Caging Provided:

I have a 29 gallon, which is minimum, and bark substrate. there is a carved out half log for hiding and a few placed branches for climbing. I also have a laid down clay flower pot for extra hiding. They also should have a small water dish as i do. make sure to have a screen. I also have fake plants of a sorts.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Main stream insects such as: crickets, meal worms, wax worms, and small mice for adults like pinkies.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Optional for a healthier life.

Maintenance:

They need a full cage cleaning twice a month since they eat so much. Replace substrate and wash all hiding places.

Some Words on this Species:

They like to be handled, BUT VERY GENTLY, THEY HAVE FRAGILE BODIES AND SCALES, HAVE CAUTION.
