Years Experience:

Over 20 Years

Species:

Leopard Gecko.

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Normal Leopard Gecko.

Sexing and Characteristics:

The male has "V" shaped pores about half an inch above the tail and below the "V" shaped pores is a bluge and there tail is normaly bigger than the females. The female Leopard Gecko has no kind od of "V" shaped pores or neither a bulge above the tail.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

For the substrate you should use either carpet or news-paper for juvenile leopard geckos so that they dont swallow the substrate wich could lead to deah! For middle age to adault leopard geckos you couls still use newspaper, bark but NOT cedar chipping or pine because they are toxic to most reptiles, carpet again you could use and you can use hat i use wich is sand.(Preferbly bone aid wich wont matter if they digest it.)
For a water bowl i would use a not too deep or tall(as they can drownd) bowl that has not too steep sides,to make it look more natural you can use a rock bowl.(You can bye these from pet/reptile stores.)

Lighting and UVB:

There is no need really to use a UV light, but you really could do with using some kind of light.(only if the tempreture is not met by an under tank heater-UTH.)

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature for leopard geckos has to be between 75 to 82oF on the cool side and between 82 to 92oF on the warm side.
For these leopard geckos thy dont really need humidity but a moist tub/place is crutial, expecially when they are shedding!Get an old tub/tupperwere box(sterilse before use!)and cut a hole either in the top or at the front,if at the front remember to leave one inch of plastic:then fill the tub with a peat moss type of substance and place at the warm end of the vivarium.

Heating and Equipment:

All you need like i have mensiond above is an UTH-under tank heater(Or you can also use some kind of light bulb if the temperature is not met by the UTH.)

Caging Provided:

Th ere is a rule to housing leopard Geckos..."You should give them atleast 10 gallons/1 foot per leopard gecko and so on.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

You can feed Leopard Geckos on brown crickets as there main diet but you can also use mealworms, waxworms, super worms and the occasional pinky mouse.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

You should always use a calcium vitamin based powder to dust your food(not pinky’s) before feeding to your Leopard Gecko!

Maintenance:

These Geckos are very low maintanence:if you place a clean paper towel were they poop then it is very easy for you to clean up, you also need to clean out and change your Loepard Geckos water bowl everyday and spray the peet moss based sunstance daily.

Some Words on this Species:

In my eyes these are the best pet lizards you can possibly EVER buy, they are soooooooo easy to look after and get used to handling and people quickly!!! :D
