 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Lizardmasterlord

Years Experience:

5 to 10 Years

Species:

Crickets

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Mainly all crickets, some other insects (Grasshoppers, mealies... ETC)

Sexing and Characteristics:

Antenae length, but this isnt always true, female has shorter antenae, sometimes they are the same however.

Mostly Active During:

Both

Substrate and Water Needs:

Basic plastic tank bottom. Glass tank, whatever, they dont require anything special.

Lighting and UVB:

Nothing special, Ive heard they do require some sort of light for at least an hour a day if you plan on keeping them longer than 48 hours, something about their eye sensors or skin... I dont know.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Now, heres the only actual requirement for crickets sides food. If you keep these guys anywhere under 55 degrees, there gonna go into brum, Which is brumination, an insect type hibernation, These guys will NOT move, or eat, or do anything once in this stage, until they are warmed up, sometimes they dont come out of it alive.... so keep them a tiny bit warm!

Heating and Equipment:

Basic plastic cage. Keep them in a relativly warm place. Maybe a egg carton piece or two for them to hide in.

Caging Provided:

I have a 2.5 gallon plastic tank, I got it from a discount bin in a pet store for about 3 dollars! No joke! They have one full individual egg holder cardboard thing to hide in.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

Since crickets are going to be eaten, you should gutload them with a large array of fruits and vegetables, anything full of vitamin, steak to leafy greens, whatever! Remember, you are what you eat. (EX: Cricket eats poop, Then you feed to lizard... You get the idea.) (EX: Cricket eats carrot and potatoe, Lizard east cricket, oh yea.)

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

You should dust your cricket heavily with vitamin supplement... Repcal supplement. Make them fully white.

Maintenance:

Keep them watered, keep them well fed, until they are eaten, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!

Some Words on this Species:

Crickets are simple to care for, but if you dont feed them or water them, you can get a bad lizard.
