Sexing and Characteristics:

Green Anacondas are large built snakes. Anacondas are from South America. These snakes love to hunt under water plants. They can eat animals larger than they are. Green Anacondas are the largest snakes in the world. They can weigh up to 550lbs and 30 feet long. The only other snake that gets this large is a reticulated python. Anacondas are also called water boas.

Mostly Active During:

N/A

Substrate and Water Needs:

Provide enough water for the snake to swim, soak, and drink.
As well provide dry land area so the snake won’t get water blisters. If you use a small water bowl the snake will dry out. In the wild anacondas spend 70-85 % of the day in water.
You can use a large plastic box for water. Repti Bark is a good substrate to use, as well you can use aspen, or cypress.
Reptile carpet and news paper are easy to clean. DON’T USE CEDAR. Another way to set up a more natural tank is to line the bottom with rocks, then for land lay down reptile moss.
make the rocks higher on the land side. Then pour water in the tank. MAKE SURE THE LAND IS DRY , or the snake will get water blisters.Make sure the water is not too cold or too hot.
If too little of water the snake’s skin will dry out.
I use a water filter to keep the water clean. The cage should have about 50-60% water. Using a water tote or plastic box it easier if your cage can’t hold water. If pouring water and using rocks and moss, make sure the land is dry.
Another name for anaconda is water boa.

You can use a UV light for natural color, but its not needed.
