Sexing and Characteristics:

Great Pet, when he comes out of the bedding?
Easy to handle, good for beginners. At first they may strike but they are not biting, just poking you with their little shovel nose.
Still am uncertain about its feeding inconsistency.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

Glass enclosure, about 30" x 12" x 14"
ground walnut shells are great for the hognose because it promotes burrowing. Someone out there talk to me if I am wrong. I was told this by the petshop, not a vet. Ive had him 6 months and have had no problems with it. Cannot say for sure that it is the best for the hognose. Of course a rock water dish is required!

Maintenance:

Clean water dish often
Don’t allow feces to stay in the enclosure too long at all.
Also remove shedding ASAP. You don’t have to do this but I keep and date the sheddings to evaluate his growth.

Some Words on this Species:

Again, great pet for beginners if you get them fairly young.
