Sexing and Characteristics:
It’s pretty obvious which is which! Hehe just look and you’ll know.
Mostly Active During:
Day
Substrate and Water Needs:
Just make water always available.
Lighting and UVB:
Dogs cannot see in the dark like cats and they only like the dark for sleep or resting, sometimes some dogs never like it.
Temperatures and Humidity:
Dogs like the winter and the snow, but they also like it when it’s hot. Just don’t let them stay out there too long and let them overheat. Water can help overheating if it happens, though.
Heating and Equipment:
You need a food bowl, water bowl, and maybe a toy or two and DEFINITELY give puppies bones or else they may chew up some things you may not want them to, like furniture. The same thing can happen with full grown dogs if you don’t teach them or get them training in a dog class. You can find a training class anywhere, really.
Caging Provided:
As puppies, you may need to get a kennal to put them in when you’re not there, just so they don’t ruin something if you didn’t teach them. I’d reccomend keeping the puppy in there until you’ve tought them properly or until age 1. The is a way, however, to break the habit even in later years of the dog’s age. Test him by watching in the window, pretending that you’re gone, and watch what he does. Run inside really fast and catch him in the act. Tell him no but NEVER EVER EVER smack or hit a dog. That may sound crazy but the voice works even better. Smacking/hitting a dog signals to them that anything you dow ith your hands is going to hurt them. Try it and test!
Diet:
Omnivorous
Description of Diet:
Dogs/puppies can be either. Sometimes they’ll eat grass if they’re not feeling well, or if it just looks tasty. Just get the puppy some puppy food to start out. If you plan on changing what he eats, put little bits of the new food into his old food and let him eat, and gradually he will have a new diet. For the adult dog make sure he gets good, healthy food, along with the puppy, and just watch what he eats.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
In the more expensive types of food for dogs, the supplement should be in the food itself. If not, just go to your local pet store and buy some vitamins for your dog.
Maintenance:
Just make sure to let them out to go to the bathroom, feed them 2-3 times a day, depending on the size, and just give them big hugs and let them be your friend. You’ll be happy you did, because there is your best friend, always there for you to hug.
Some Words on this Species:
Dogs may be a lot of work, but they’re more than worth it.
