Main Category:

Snakes

Sub Category:

Ball Pythons

 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Marisa

Years Experience:

3 to 5 Years

Species:

Ball Python

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Ball Python - Python regius

Sexing and Characteristics:

Personally, I will be taking my Ball Python to a person with snake probing experience, and having him probed.

Mostly Active During:

N/A

Substrate and Water Needs:

Paper towel/newspaper. This is clean, cheap and you can easily notice mites or other issues.

Lighting and UVB:

None

Temperatures and Humidity:

My Ball Python has a basking spot (heating pad) at 88 on the warm side, with other hiding spots available at around 80-85 and the cool side is normally 75-80 but I like to keep it closer to 80.

Humidity for my Ball Python is kept around 70% during shed times I spray often and keep it at around 85%

Heating and Equipment:

Heating pad with Reptile ESU Thermostat. The middle of my heating pad is very warm while the edges are a bit cooler. It works out well.

Caging Provided:

Rubbermaid! For one Ball Pythons are more shy. More space is not always the best choice for these snakes in most peoples opinion. Mine certainly has done much better in a rubbermaid. This also helps keep humidity high and provides good ventilation.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

I fed my young Ball Python roughly every 4-7 days.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None

Maintenance:

Little. Daily check of heating equipment and temps, water and spot clean and snake.

Some Words on this Species:

I would like to note I only own ONE Ball Python and he is still young. I am no expert and this is only the way I personally keep my Ball. By no means is this meant to be a standard, as this is what has been successful for ME *personally* in the little time I have had my great snake! thanks! :)
