 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Marisa

Years Experience:

3 to 5 Years

Species:

Golden Gecko

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Golden Gecko - Gekko ulikovski -

Sexing and Characteristics:

My Golden has pronounced lumps near the vent, and when on glass a bright light will shine right through and sex organs are clearly visible.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Natural potting soil.

My Golden has learned to drink from a bowl but spraying is important and I do it often.

Lighting and UVB:

No UVB, but I believe it may be beneficial. I used one for awhile but the casing broke and I haven’t fixed it. Most say its not needed 100% I light his cage with white basking bulbs.

Temperatures and Humidity:

At the highest point in the cage my Golden has a hot area of 90F, other areas range in temp and the coolest is about 75-80.

My Golden like others, love humidity. I have live plants in his enclosure, and I spray often. I keep it about 75-80%

Heating and Equipment:

Heated by two small 40 watt basking lights.

Caging Provided:

Custom wood and plexi glass cage. 3 feet tall, about 16 inches long and 16 inches deep.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

My Golden Gecko is not very picky at all. He eats crickets, baby food, and even fresh cut up fruit from a dish.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Vitamins mixed in baby food a few times per month although very small amounts. Too much is not a good thing.

Maintenance:

Very little. Buying crickets and spraying my Golden are the extent of time spent maintaining him. I do spend lots of time enjoying him though!

Some Words on this Species:

Highly underrated. To watch this lightly colored gecko with dark brown/black eyes stalk around the cage hunting is really enjoyable to watch. A cheap but wonderful pet!
