Substrate and Water Needs:

Wheat Bran is the best so far. It has low impact and my plated loves to dig around in it. I have a size-able water dish that my plated likes to hang out in when it is going to shed. They do drink from the water dish, they just cannot see still water.

Lighting and UVB:

I have a basking light and a UVB fixture. Lights are on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours. I also turn on a night light at night.

Temperatures and Humidity:

My temps are around 80 and cool side is 78-75. Night temps are 75-78, and humidity is low.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a under the tank heater that stays on 24/7. Basking light and night light.

Caging Provided:

I have a male in a 40 breeder and loves it. These lizards are highly active during the day. 2 plateds could easily live in a 40 gallon tank.

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

These lizard eat:
Grapes**
Kale
Super Worms
Wax Worms
Dandelion Greens
Carrots
Crickets
and occasionally a pinkie

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

I dust my crickets and super worms with Calcium.

Maintenance:

There maintenance isn’t too bad. You have to change their water daily for when they dig, the substrate gets into the water dish. Their waste needs to be cleaned out daily and substrate needs to be changed once a month.

Some Words on this Species:

These lizard seem to be a little skittish but it took me a week to tame him and now is very lovable! They have lots of personality and are good for the intermediate lizard owner.
