Males are usually much larger, and have 2 bulges at the tail base.

Substrate and Water Needs:

I use dry cypress mulch in one of my cages and sand in my other for my iguanas. If you are willing to have a simple unattractive terrarium do yourself a huge favor and use newspaper. The terrarium types i use are dry forest and beach side. For water I would just put in a water bowl large enough to lap. And once a week soak them in the tub.

Lighting and UVB:

YOU MUST USE UVB AND UVA LIGHTING. THEY NEED IT.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Back round: 80-85 degrees f
basking: 90-105 f
night time: 65-75 f

Heating and Equipment:

Heat lamps
Under tank heaters
Heat tape
NO HEAT ROCKS

Caging Provided:

A minimum for 1 adult male is 8x4x4.
Provide a good hiding spot.

Diet:

Herbivorous

Description of Diet:

’’YOU MUST FEED CYCLURA IGUANAS SOME MEAT.’’ This is a myth they should only be fed 100% veggies. You can feed them pretty much any kind except iceberg lettuce.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Not mandatory.

Maintenance:

This is a relatively difficult species to keep. Keep the cage clean at all times.
