Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

N/A

Sexing and Characteristics:

There are 2 ways of determining your snake’s sex, probing and popping.Make sure you get your snake sexed by a QUALIFIED vet or experienced keeper.

Mostly Active During:

N/A

Substrate and Water Needs:

I use aspen substrate, but paper towels are the way to go for new animals.Cedar, pine, and fir are toxic to reptiles and should not be used. You should have a water dish,it doesn’t have to be big enough for the snake to fit in,they wouldn’t do it unless they get dehydrated. That shouldn’t happen,if you take care of your snake.

Lighting and UVB:

None needed.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Temperatures should be around 90-95*F on the warm side, and 80-85*F on the cool side.Humidity should be around 50-65%,and 75-80% during shed.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a human heat pad in conjunction with a thermostat, but you can use a heat lamp,CHE,heat tape, but NEVER heat rocks. They can cause severe burns.Always use a thermostat or dimmer to keep your temperatures straight.

Caging Provided:

I use a 32 qt rubbermaid.You can use a 20 gallon tank for a hatchling,and up to a 55 gallon for an adult.(You don’t need a 55 gallon,but I would prefer it.)Always have a lid with locks for obvious reasons.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

They can start on fuzzies, then gradually moving up to medium rats. The food cannot be more than 1.5 times the biggest part of your snake.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None

Maintenance:

Low.Clean urates and defecation as soon as you see it,don’t soak the substrate, and you will be fine.

Some Words on this Species:

The best beginner species in my book,I’ve kept corns and kings, but none compare to these guys.I AM IN NO WAY AN EXPERT,I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY KNOWLEDGE WITH PEOPLE WHO MIGHT WANT TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT ON PYTHON REGIUS,BALL PYTHONS.
