Years Experience:

Species:

Leopard Gecko

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

N/A

Sexing and Characteristics:

Dont really know much on breeding but i do on sexing. If the lizzard has a V shape near their legs, and it has like two bumps than it is probably a male. It might take a while until it gets older to be able to tell.

Mostly Active During:

N/A

Substrate and Water Needs:

Reptile carpet is probably the best substrate to use. Some people may say that the come from sandy deserts, but there wrong. They are from the desert but not on sand. Sand can cause impaction and serious problems. Newspaper and paper towel are also good Ive heard, but the ink can get on the lizard. Always keep a water dish available at all times. Try to clean it out twice a week so bacteria doesn’t grow on it.

Lighting and UVB:

Because they are nocturnal they don’t need any special uv lighting needs. I sometimes keep a heat lamp on during the day since they will hide during the day and come out during the night. At the evening i take the heat lamp out and stick a 75watt black heat lamp in.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Keep one side of the tank around 74-75f. Heat the warm side about 88-92f.Do not spray the lizard with a spray bottle, instead keep a humid hide available at all times. Spray the humid hide every other day to maintain humidity. Keep this on the warm side of the tank.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a uth and a 75 watt bulb, a black light bulb.

Caging Provided:

10 gallon is good for one but is better to go with at least a 20 gallon long. Make sure you have a lid that allows for ventilation.

Diet:

N/A

Description of Diet:

Crickets, mealworms, waxworms, silkworms, superworms, pinkies are all diets for the gecko. I do not recommend pinkies because of the bones your lizard would have to digest, unless breading. Wax worms are very fattening and addictive. Only feed waxxies if your gecko needs fattening up. The best is small superworms. They don’t really seem to like mealies, well at least mine don’t.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Sprinkle their food with vitamins twice a week and calcium 4 times a week.

Maintenance:

Very easy to keep maintenance for, once you find their area where they poop you can put paper towel there so its easier to remove.

Some Words on this Species:

Very great to have i love mine with all my heart. Very good for beginners.
