Sexing and Characteristics:

Its nearly impossible to tell when their just babys but once they get to about 18 inches their sexual characteristics seem to show up out of know where

the males have larger crest,spines, and jowls and their head is shaped like a triangle

the females have small crests and their pear shaped

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

You can use repticarpet, reptile litter, and bed-a-beast

repticarpet is a little harder to keep the humidity up but it is much better if you don’t want to worry about to much impaction

Lighting and UVB:

In a 20 gallon tank you can use a 100 watt reptile bulb to keep the heat at a nice level and putting a uv in the middle so its on the cool and warm side at the same side

Temperatures and Humidity:

In day 80 to 85 degrees

at night 75 to 80 degrees

the humidity should be between 60 and 80

Heating and Equipment:

Provide lots of hiding places and plenty of basking spots as well as a large enough water bowl so it can submerge itself

Caging Provided:

I keep my female in a 6ft long, 4ft high, and 3ft wide but I’m soon to have a male and female Australian to go with my Chinese

Diet:

Omnivorous

Description of Diet:

Mainly eat crickets,superworms,mealworms(i don’t feed these cause of their high chitin level), earthworms, silkworms, butterworms, grasshoppers, and baby mice when their older, day old quail, and fish

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Supplement every other feeding with calcium and once a week with vitamins

Maintenance:

Spot clean the cage everyday and clean out the water 2 times a day since this is where they will poop and drink
