 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Dieforzero

Years Experience:

5 to 10 Years

Species:

African Rock Python

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

close reletive: Burmese python

Sexing and Characteristics:

They do have many neat patters down the side of them. Mostly black and gray and whit. On the bottom it looks like a bunch of small black mights are on them. Top is the same way as a Burmese python but darker

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

These snakes are not good swimmers when there young and captive bread. So always make sure to ask the owner of where u got it if there captive or wild bred. If captive go with a dish wide enough to soak in but shallow enough to breath other wise give a big water dish if wild caught.

Lighting and UVB:

These snake Mostly just need a heat pad. I use heat wave. But if not at the right temperature go ahead and use a Uva and a infrared bulb. That’s what Ive been using and i works.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Must be 86-90 during day at night at leased 86 degrees

Heating and Equipment:

Like i said Heat wave and they Will hang out around that alot. If it isn’t right temperature use uva infrared light. Do not put heat pad under water dish put under hide spot.

Caging Provided:

I use bark when little but if usage of bark make sure to feed them in a separate cage. like a shoe box. Plastic works better. When bigger they will use Aspin. When babys (1-2 1/2’) they may go into a 20 gallon but be prepared these snakes will get 18ft. so when that length they will need a room in a house. Also make sure there rock they like to climb on them. I use mostly live rock. They don’t really need trees because there a ground Python.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Captive bread babys will eat one small mouse every 2 weeks they r picky when young. make sure mice are dead. NOT FROZEN, fresh kill that way it has heat in it still and the snake will think its still alive. Also try and start it on rats. like rat pinky (live) then rat pup(The rest of the big rats need to be dead) then small rat, then medium rat, then large rat then jumbo, then 2 jumbos then small rabbits and then big rabbits then chickens

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Don’t really need any. I’ve never use them on snakes just lizards. Just make sure food is killed unless pinkys

Maintenance:

1 a month water dish every 3 days

Some Words on this Species:

THEY GET BIG
