Hyndsy

Under 1 Year

Species:

Fire Bellied Toads

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Other toads similar to this type.

Sexing and Characteristics:

Males seem to be slightly larger. Males are also the only ones that croak.

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

I use gravel about half an inch deep. With 2 or so inches deep you must give them land i use 4 rocks each at different levels and shapes.

Lighting and UVB:

You should use a 40 to 60 watt bulb. No UV is needed.

Temperatures and Humidity:

You should gain a temperature of around 25 to 30 Celsius and let it drop no lower than 19 at night. Humidity is compulsory but you shouldn’t worry the exact humidity level.

Heating and Equipment:

I use a small heat pad but it doesn’t work that well so a light makes most of the heat.

Caging Provided:

I have a 60 cm long cage by 20 with a height of 19 cm.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

They eat half inch crickets every 2 days. Sometimes i give them a wax worm. You could also feed them meal worms but i don’t fancy cutting off their heads!

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

None

Maintenance:

You can wash them out as often as you like as long as it doesn’t go above 3 months with no cleaning.

Some Words on this Species:

They’re easy to care for, fun and well worth the small effort. I also have red spotted newts with them.
