Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

Sexing and Characteristics:
The best way to determine the sex of you boa, it is best to go to a vet and get it probed. If you don’t have any experience doing this, you should not try it because it can hurt your snake.
Mostly Active During:
Night
Substrate and Water Needs:
For substrate i like to use indoor/outdoor carpeting, it is very easy to clean and gives the cage a nice look. Aspen shavings are also popular and look nice. DO NOT USE CEDAR!!!! it is toxic!
Lighting and UVB:
I use a fluorescent light and a heat bulb and he does perfectly fine. Snakes get a lot of their vitamins and minerals from their food.
Temperatures and Humidity:
You should provide a warm end and a cool end in the cage. The warm end should be between 85-91 degrees, and the cool side between 80 and 85 degrees. Humidity is very important, it contributes to the health of your snake and helps him/her shed. it should be about 55%.
Heating and Equipment:
Heat bulbs that are especially made for reptiles are the best in my opinion, just be careful of putting climbing objects too close to the bulb, your snake could burn itself!!! Heat pads also work well for the warm side of the cage.
Caging Provided:
For my juvenile Boa i have a cage that is 32x15x15, and he is about 3 and a half feet. As an adult i will put him into a 60x30x24. You can go bigger, depending how big your snake is.
Diet:
Carnivorous
Description of Diet:
Boas like to feed on mice and rats, you should feed them frozen/thawed mice and rats, live prey can bite and maybe even kill your snake. If you do decide to feed live, make sure you watch the snake eat to make sure nothing happens.
Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:
like i said snakes get most of their vitamins and minerals from their prey. But it is a good idea to take your snake in the sun every once in a while, they can pick up extra vitamins from the sun.
Maintenance:
If you are using carpet, it should be cleaned every two to three weeks, and if using aspen shavings, it should be changed every time it goes to the bathroom
Some Words on this Species:
I would not recommend this snake to a first time snake owner, people under estimate how big and powerful these snakes get (full grown adults can kill a human). I would recommend starting out with a ball python.
