American toad

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

southern toad

Sexing and Characteristics:

Substrate and Water Needs:

Like frogs toads NEED water or they will dry up and die.

Lighting and UVB:

Toads do not need much lighting. they are nocturnal and do not get much sun. but everything needs light to grow taking them out for alittle sunlight occasionally is ok.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Room temperature is good for toads to live in. toads like dark, damp places. if the place they are in is too hot or cold they can die. remember toads are cold blooded and to much coldness will freeze them. heat is not the only thing that kills toads coldness does too.

Heating and Equipment:

Like i said toads will dry up if they get too hot. they don’t require any heating equipment. some equipment they do need is a water bowl ( big enough for the toad to sit in) and a hiding place. toads love to burrow so sand is good for them to burrow in. loose dirt will work good too.

Caging Provided:

I used a 10 gallon tank for my toad but 15 and 20 to 25 gallons is good too. it depends on how big and how many toads you have.

Carnivorous
