Males are smaller than females and males have longer front claws than females

Substrate and Water Needs:

Midland painted turtles love to swim so i suggest making the water as deep as possible. Large gravel or calcium sand is good to put on the bottom of the tank.All painted turtles are aggressive baskers so provide a area where they can get all the way out of the water.

Lighting and UVB:

A proper UVB light should be placed over the basking area to ensure your turtle will have a healthy shell.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Painted turtles are very hardy creatures so a good temperature would be around70-90 degrees F.

Heating and Equipment:

Heat lamp.

Caging Provided:

I suggest a 30 gallon tank is good for 1 painted turtle then add 10 gallons per additional turtle.

Diet:

N/A

Description of Diet:

When young there more carnivorous eating worms,minnows,bugs,and small crayfish. adults eat more vegetables like carrots,lettuce,and some water plants

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Dust food in vitamin supplement

Maintenance:

Turtles are very messy so a high powered filter is required.change water monthly if you have a filter and weekly if you don’t have a filter.
