Both

Substrate and Water Needs:

For substrate I don’t use anything smaller than FBT’s head. Mostly pebbles and rocks. NO SAND it will clog there sistem and lead to early death. For the water I have a 2/3 water with a water filter, if you don’t want to buy or don’t have a filter a plastick container big enough for your FBT and change the water every other day.

Lighting and UVB:

It depends on the normale tempeture of your house on what wattige bulb you get. I have 2 lamps on my toad, one 75watt for winters and one normal house lamp bulb(45-60) for the rest of the year.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The air temperature should be from 69-78F. While the water should be 67-74F. Humidity should be 60%-70%

Heating and Equipment:

A heat lamp from your local pet suply shop is perfect for FBTs.

The tank should be 4 gallons per toad. But the more room the better!

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

I have a 2 1/2 inch toad and he eats 24 large crickets in a week and a half you can also feed them readily mealworms and other small insects.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

If your crickets aren’t loaded when you get them then you can buy cricket food that has the vitemans the toads need.

Maintenance:

Any dead crickets should be removed as soon as possible from the water. if ther is a pile of crickets were the toad spends a lot of time leave them because they tend to stock pile them and eat them later.

Some Words on this Species:

This speacies of toad should be handeled with care because of the toxins in there skin whitch if swollowed is very dangerous so wash your hands well after moveing and they will kill themselves from stress if handeled to much. Other than that they are a very hardy group of toads. As a last and final thing please wet your hands with water before touching your toad because the oils in your skin can hurt there skin.
