Sexing and Characteristics:

Grows to 16 in. head shaped like a sunken leaf in water. reddish brown shell

Substrate and Water Needs:

Fully aquatic habitat. you don’t need land unless breeding witch is hard to achieve in captivity.

Lighting and UVB:

Lights sold for fish work best or reptile lights for rain forest setups.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Water should be 78-85 degrees Fahrenheit

Heating and Equipment:

Aquarium heater is recommended because heating pads could make water too hot. powerful filter required

Caging Provided:

Fully aquatic setup unless breeding. low water levels because the turtle extends its neck to breath.rocks bigger then the turtles mouth for substrate because the turtle sucks its prey into its mouth like a vacuum and could swallow small gravel. sunken logs also required to make like rain forest river. back rounds can be used.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Turtle food sticks are often refused by these turtles. live shrimp and feeder fish are needed for there diet

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Feed prey nutritious fish food before giving to turtle.

Maintenance:

Powerful filter for water. clean bottom of tank once a month.if algae starts to grow clean immediately!watch out for algae growth on turtles back.

Interesting turtle but not for beginners.$400 and up for one turtle. watching it feed is worthwhile.i don’t have one but my friend help me with this care sheet.grows 16 in. and lives up to 20 yrs+. also very aggressive like a snapper but won’t take your hand off and there neck is very long so careful handling is required.
