Sexing and Characteristics:

Sexing is very easy with leopard geckos the males tend to be larger 9-10 inches with a very defined v shape with little brown indents on the under belly just above the tail as the females usually only reach about 8-9 inches with a more slender body shape and more of a u shape without brown spots above the tail

Substrate and Water Needs:

I have always used most paper towel for my hatchlings and all natural pre-washed and sifted play sand (which can be purchased at toys r us) for the juvies and adults. Just make sure the sand is all natural non-silicon.

Lighting and UVB:

Leopard Geckos do not require uvb for growth. It has not been found to affect them with or without it, although it is always recommended.

Temperatures and Humidity:

Warm side between 75-85 f and their cool side should be between 65-75 and their humidity must be kept to a near 50%.

Heating and Equipment:

Please don’t use a heat rock many lizards of different species have been known to burn their bellies on these devices.
An under the tank heat pad have been known to work very efficiently with Leo’s.

Caging Provided:

A minimum tank requirement is a 10 gallon but bigger is always better.

Diet:

Carnivorous

Description of Diet:

Hatchlings should be feed baby crickets, as they grow the size of the crickets should be increased, Adults can be fed and occasional pinkie in efforts to fatten them up or to spoil them. Mealworm and waxworms are also an option but are not a good staple they are to high in fat and can cause serious health defects.

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Calcium and vitamin D3 are necessary for a happy and healthy gecko.

Maintenance:

Leos are very low maintenance. They usually pick a potty corner which makes them very easy to clean up after.

Some Words on this Species:

Leos make an excellent beginner pet as they are easy to care for and are very docile. And they have great personalities.
