Sexing and Characteristics:

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

I give myn a water bowl but i also bathe him for about 10 minuites a day so he can hydrate himself and go to the toilet.
for the substrate i have put down a sand-soil mix with a layer of bark on the top so he can move around more easily.

Lighting and UVB:

For lighting i have put a uvb and ava striplight on the top of his tank. at each end there is a light held on by a clamp lamp. one bulb is an infared heat bulb which the tortoise can’t see. this is so that if he gets cold in the night he can go and warm up.
the other bulb is a basking/day bulb. this is to simulate daylight and to provide heat across the whole tank.

Temperatures and Humidity:

The temperature in the tank should be about 25 degrees on the day and the temperature should drop at night. the basking spot should be about 30 degrees.

Heating and Equipment:

I provided a heat lamp, day lamp, and a uvb strip bulb. it is VERY important that you dont have a heat mat under the cage or when your tort digs down it will get hotter and gotter.
you also shouldn’t have a heat rock on it burn its shell.

Caging Provided:

I provided a blue plastic box. the type you get to put under your bed. this is good bocause it is very wide but not that tall so that it still has good ventilation. i made it a hiding place with a water bowl some plant pots to hide in and a cuttle fish for calcium.
