 Care Sheet Submitted By:

Little leo

Years Experience:

1 to 2 Years

Species:

Leopard Gecko

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

NONE

Sexing and Characteristics:

When leos are about 8 or 9 months old they are easily sexed.Males have a V row of pours and two bulges near the beginning of the tail, females don’t.

Mostly Active During:

Night

Substrate and Water Needs:

Juvenile leopard geckos should have repti carpet, newspaper, tile,or paper towels. NEVER USE ASTRA-TURF BECAUSE IT HAS MANY OILS AND SUBSTANCES THAT MAY HARM IT. Once older, (at least 6-8inches long)you may use sand or slate. Be care full using sand because it may cause impaction.IF YOU DO USE SAND MAKE SURE YOU FEED YOUR LEO IN A DIFFERENT PLACE.

Lighting and UVB:

No UVB lighting is needed.I suggest using a Red 75watt light bulb during the day and a Blue 75watt light bulb during the night.

Temperatures and Humidity:

On your hot side you should have your temperature at 90 and on the cool side 80. I recommend this for day and night time.Humidity should be less than 40 percent.

Heating and Equipment:

I recommend a 75 watt phosphorous light bulb during day time ours and a blue 75 watt light bulb during the night.Use an over head clamp light fixture and place at the top of the tank. You can also use a HUMAN HEATING PAD and place it under half of the tank.

Caging Provided:

I use a ten gallon tank with two hides, red light for day, blue light for night, water dish, sand with thin patches of scattered moss.

Diet:

N/A

Description of Diet:

Crickets, Mealworms,Silkworms, and Superworms.Waxworms are fatty and un-healthy so I wouldn’t recommend using them but if you do feed them to your Leo as treat(once a month).
NEVER EVER USE PINKIES(baby mice).

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

Calcium dust during every feeding. I also recommend using a small dish of calcium powder for your leo.

Maintenance:

Refill water daily, clean waste daily, change substrate monthly,gut-load food with cricket drink and fruit, and handle your gecko every day.

Some Words on this Species:

THE LEOPARD GECKO IS A GREAT BEGINNER SPECIES OF LIZARDS AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM:)
