Filter Undergravel filter with powerheads.Don’t go too powerful,or if you use air then go big.Check "Craigslist",lots of good deals on things.Atleast here in Ca. there are.Live plants always makeup for filtration shortages but you have to be mindful of fish that tear them up.Fish are an aquariums worse asset. That is why in nice reef tanks and freshwater tanks there are very few fish.

Filter Well I am wanting goldfish, guppies, newts, and maybe a dart frog in my tank. I was told on another forum that sence goldfish are so messy I should get a hanging filter for a 75-100 gallon tank, and NOT do an under gravel filter cuz it sucks all waste down and some gets stuck in the gravel and can cause ammonia spikes etc. Is this correct?

Filter You can’t house a dart frog or newts in an aquatic fish setup or with other species.
Goldfish are toxic and too dirty for most other fish, the guppies wouldn’t survive long.
