 Can Lizards?

Hey, I am normally more of a snake guy so I don’t know a lot about lizards, but I just wanted to ask a quick question.
Can Lizards “love?”
I know that snakes physically can not have emotions, and that the only reason they would like to be held would be because they would see you as like a warm moving tree.
I once saw some chameleons that when the guy opened the cage they all “wanted” him to hold them and they came running to his hand.
Is this a form of affection?
And lastly can Leopard geckos have this affection?
Any Impute would be appreciated, thanks.

Lizards can’t love a person, but they can reognize some one as the person that feeds them, the chemeolons reacted that way because they learned whenever that guy opens their cage they will get feed. Treat your leaopard gecko right and it will learn that ou are the source of food and that you mean them no harm.

No, reptiles don’t actually have emotions. Its the same as it is with snakes as you say. Many times geckos will become habituated to people and even recognize them as sources of food, so that people will think they ’like’ them and ’like’ to be handled. While it can be fun to anthropomorphize, they don’t actually have much of anything but instincts going on.

Cheers,
Nick

Yea I kind of figured it was something like that. But I have another question, why do some people say certain lizards, as a species, "like" to be held and others don’t.
Thanks.

They mean "Tolerate" handling. For instance, my bearded dragon will walk onto my hand and perch on my shoulder. He doesn’t really "like" it...more "tolerates"....and knows a bug will come ;) He doesn’t try to bite or anything, he’s really layed back. So, some lizard species tolerate handling but don’t actually "like" it.

hard for me to explain but maybe you’ll understand

My ackie doesn’t "like" being handled he likes the interaction that he gets when he comes out he knows that he is going to get to run wherever he pleases and get to see all the other animals and outside in the patio (screened in) he gets to smell all of the smells and then it is hard to get him back into his cage. If a lizard knows that something good is going to happen when it "behaves" a.k.a tolerate handleing it will seem to "like" it. Just my $0.02 cents
