You can but watch out for parisites in the wood. the best way to do that is boil the wood once you get it.

There are plenty of ways to rid of parasites such as freezing, baking, boiling or most common bleach any of these ways work just make sure not to use pine or cedar as these are toxic to reptiles.

I would not trust bleach with anything. freezing doesnt always work. I would only boil it

it’s quite simple to boil, just put some water in a pan and boil it on medium temp for 10 minutes than add the stick in it in a seperate boil, you know you could also bake it i the oven at 350 F for 10 minutes or so
